Future Diaspora Jewish leaders realize that upon their return to their home communities they will have to deal with the Arab-Israeli conflict. Whether in the context of inter-faith activity, political activity, or dealing with divisions within their own communities, it is essential for them to be able to handle the conflict’s ramifications in an agile and nuanced manner.
Obtaining credible first-hand exposure on the Arab-Israeli conflict is still a daunting and frustrating task. This is often the case even while those future leaders are studying in Israel, and ostensibly have an easy opportunity to learn more about the conflict.
There are several programs to learn more about Palestinian perspectives on the conflict. There are few opportunities though to engage with the full kaleidoscope Jewish-Israeli side of the equation, even for those living in a Jewish environment in Israel. Perspectives Israel, in offering a wide variety of Jewish-Israeli views on the conflict, and in doing so in critically thinking but safe and non-judgmental setting, provides an essential platform for these future leaders to struggle with the Arab-Israeli conflict.
